This is a topic that I have seen come up in so many topics of discussion or all forms of social media and just talking to people in person. There are so many questions out there regarding what about work from home jobs, what to do, how to do, if it’s a real thing, and if you can even make any real money from it. I hopefully can help dispel some of the myth surrounding working from home.
Are They Legit?
Yes. That is the plain and simple truth. There are jobs you can do from home that can make you money. The sad fact is that there are tons of scams as well. If you have any skill that can be leveraged in any way online I am sure that would give you a massive leg up in finding a job that will work for you.
I unfortunately did not possess any of these skills that I could figure out a way to make it work for me. I remember desperately searching for anything that I could do in my spare time that I could use as a way to pay my bills on top of the one and sometimes two jobs I had.
Most that I have seen and experienced in the 10 years that I have been trying to break into working from home pay minuscule amounts to be honest. I have done everything from data entry that was paying me $0.03 for about 3 minutes of work, to transcribing where I bought a foot pedal and only ended up doing one job where I was told I did almost everything wrong even though I had followed the instructions to the letter
Pros and Cons
There are several pros and cons to working from home. Some of them are very obvious while some may not be as obvious.
Let’s start with the cons and get the negative out of the way.
First off, there is no way that I have found that will get you rich quick. They just don’t exist. Second, there is no type of work from home job where you do little and get huge returns. Again, that just doesn’t happen.
If you are going to work from home, for it to work, you need to treat it like a job. You have to put the work in. You have to dedicate time and energy to get it done, whatever you decide is going to work for you. There can be fees associated with working online. Equipment might need to be bought, or maybe you need to pay for your website to be hosted. This will be dependent on what you actually decide you want to do.
Now, the pros.
You get to set your own schedule. Don’t want to work bright and early? Totally fine. More of a night owl? That works too. Working from home can work around almost any schedule.
No commute to and from work. For me this is a huge one. My last job I was literally commuting to 1 hour away to be making a little more than minimum wage. I loved the work, but it the end it just wasn’t worth it.
There are more options online than what is in your immediate area. Depending on where you live, more can be offered online that what is around you. Plus, if you get into what I do and blog, you can literally write about WHATEVER YOU WANT.
Is This Something For You?
This is one question that you might be asking yourself right now. Only you can answer that. If you have a skill set that can be used and/or sold online then it could be easier for you to break into working from home.
Telecommuting is a real deal job as well. Depending on the job description this is something that you could do as well.
Even if you don’t have any skills, I have found a way that if you just have a passion for something, truly anything, you can work from home.

When I stumbled across Wealthy Affiliate, I felt like I had found a rare gem that was going to solve all my answers about working from home.
This website is a platform that I am able to make whatever type of blog I want, and how I can potentially earn money doing it. I was amazed at how much stuff they offered one this one site. Not only do they help with hosting, the ins and outs of the back office, but also have hundreds of trainings both live and in an at your own pace format, but they literally walk you through how to set up and ideally start making money.
I do want to stress that this is NOT and get-rich-quick idea. This is for people who feel they have something to share with the world and would love to make some income off of it. Not to say that you can make lots of money by following what WA has to offer, as there are many many people on the site who have done just that, but it’s more than likely not going to be an overnight $10k/month deal either.
Another thing that I absolutely love about WA is the support. Not only are the owners invested in what they offer, but the whole community of over 100 thousand people are at your fingertips. If you have a question, just post it and someone will either answer or will be able to point you in the right direction. This really is a place where there are no stupid questions as the mentality is that everyone is always learning, and you want to pay it forward.
I’m not gonna lie, there are some fees associated with all of this. It is subscription-based, and they have monthly, bi-yearly, and yearly plans, each with discounts the higher you go. In my opinion, the benefit of everything that you get from this site far outweighs what it costs.
Final Thoughts
While there are lots of real jobs you can do from home, there are also scams. From me to you, please be careful before you give your information to any site that you either don’t know much about, or is promising to get you rich quick or with little investment on your part.
The good news is that the real stuff does exist, you just need to know where to look. What I was doing is googling to see if what I was looking at was a scam or not. When I came across WA I did a lot of research to see if it was real or not.
