The bathroom. This is something that a lot of people don’t like to clean and yet it is something that is mandatory for you to clean. With all the moisture in there from taking a shower, brushing your teeth, washing your hands and yes even flushing the toilet, there is so much mold and bacteria that grows there.

However, not everyone can think of where they need to deep clean in a bathroom. Now you might be someone who actually is very fastidious when it comes to cleaning but many of us are not. I personally use a checklist when I deep clean the bathroom. I will share this list with you so that you can have a clean and safe bathroom for yourself as well and your family.Deep Cleaning the Bathroom

The Toilet

Yuck the toilet! This is something that we use probably almost every day if not several times a day and we do not clean it enough. There are a lot of crevices and places on the toilet that do not get enough attention and yes bacteria, germs, mold, and what have you grow there.

When you deep clean a toilet make sure that you get into all the small places. You may even want to takeoff your toilet seat so that you can clean underneath the hinges that hold the toilet seat to the actual porcelain part. And then you also want to deep clean the seat the cover and yes even the spots around the base and back.

My mom just recently moved to a new house and she is, in my opinion, a super cleaner. When she got to the bathroom she was absolutely appalled. It appeared to be that the last tenants had a toilet overflow and had not cleaned behind the toilet. So of course guess what she found? You guessed it; human poop.Deep Cleaning the Bathroom

The Sink

I think it’s another place that a lot of people just glance over when it comes to deep cleaning. You really need to get down into the little cracks and crevices of your faucet. I suggest even getting Q-tips out and dipping them in the cleaning solution of your choice so that you can get this part of the bathroom very clean. You have to remember that this is something that you and your family are touching and you need to have this clean for their safety as well as yours.

Another part that you will want to focus your attention on is the drain. If you are able, you will want to take it apart and get all the gunk and debris that might be starting to clog it up. Many drain stoppers just unscrew right there in the sink. Of course, you will want to take it apart as much as you’re able to and feel comfortable with. The things that you clean out from down there will help keep the sink drain flowing free and clear.

The Shower and/or Tub

The shower and tub area is of course another area that is important to have clean for you and your family. This is the place where you guys go to clean yourselves off after anything that makes you dirty. It’s important for this area to be clean so that you yourself can get clean.

You want to make sure that you use in a cleaning solution that is safe for where you live but will also clean the bacteria, mold, mildew, and germs off the walls. Yes some major scrubbing might be required, depending on what type of shower you have, but it is for the good of your family‘s health.

Another part in this area that you are able to clean with minimal effort is the shower curtain. A lot of shower curtains can be washed in the washing machine on a gentle cycle with cool to cold water. I would not recommend putting them in the dryer. Depending on what fabric they are made of they may melt. All you have to do is hang them outside for 10-15 minutes depending on weather and where you live and they should be dry and ready to be hung back up.

You can even just hang them up on the shower curtain rod and they will dry in place. Make sure they are not dripping if you decide to go this route.

Deep Cleaning the Bathroom

The Floor

This one might seem pretty obvious but I’m not entirely sure how many actually deep clean the floor in their bathroom. Every single time you flush the toilet, brush your teeth, wash your hands, or shower particulates in the water from that activity end up on the floor. This means that when you walk on it you will track it wherever you walk through and that is usually your house. Gross right?

You ware literally going to want to get down on your hands and knees and scrub the floor when you deep clean. Not something that I enjoy, not something that I look forward to, but definitely a necessity when it comes to deep cleaning a bathroom.

I even suggest getting a toothbrush to get into all the tight and hard to reach places that a bathroom floor can have. There is no point in only partially deep cleaning the bathroom floor.

Medicine Cabinet and Cupboards

These might not be something that you’ve ever really gone through. For a lot of people, the medicine cabinet and cupboards are where they keep all their linens, toiletries, cleaning supplies, medicine, makeup and self-care products.

You are going to want to go through and look at each and every container for the expiration date or anything that will give any indication whether it is still good. This also includes medicine. There are certain medicines that when they expire actually become poisonous for the human body. You do not want to be grabbing those thinking that you’re getting some relief for whatever symptoms you may have and end up poisoning yourself.

This is also a good chance to gather up all like items, such as toothpaste, shampoos, conditioners, body wash, hair products makeup etc. and see what you have extras of and what you need more of. You want to make sure you store them all in the same place so that you can see when you need to buy more. This will actually help you cut down on your spending when you go shopping and also free up space in your cupboard and or medicine cabinet for items that you might need.

Final thoughts

I hope that you found this guide to deep cleaning your bathroom helpful. I know how much of a chore it can be to really get in there and put some effort into scrubbing areas that you are either 1. Grossed out by or 2. Just don’t want to clean. But this is somewhere that needs to be cleaned as it is a necessary room in everyone’s life
